I started with the pattern I couldn’t ignore.
I’ve been running Kerja Remote since 2025. Every week, I went through job listings manually - no scrapers, no aggregator feeds. That job board catered exclusively to remote roles in APAC.
In early 2026, I started to realize a major shift in the job market. AI roles kept showing up. Not one or two. Week after week, the number of job listings that had “AI”, “ML”, or “LLM” started to explode.
As long as the jobs were remote and based in APAC, I listed them under the tech roles and moved on. After a quick search, I found no dedicated job board for AI-related roles in APAC. The jobs exist.
The right place to find them doesn’t General job sites like Indeed, JobStreet, and even LinkedIn have tons of AI jobs, but there are some issues with them. Let me break the uncomfortable truth about hiring for AI roles in Southeast Asia right now.
- LinkedIn: when you search for “AI Engineering,” the search returns 500 results, with almost 450 of them being reposts, ghost jobs, or roles based in other countries.
- Global AI job boards treat Southeast Asia as a rounding error. Salaries are shown in USD, and most roles are based in the US, the UK, or Europe. If you’re lucky, maybe one or two are from Singapore and were posted three months ago.
- Local job portals often categorize AI jobs under IT roles, making them hard to filter for what you actually do.
You can easily search Google for AI jobs to see where I’m coming from. If you’re a data scientist from Petaling Jaya or an ML engineer from Tampines, nobody built the front door for you.
So I built it: a clear front door for AI jobs in Malaysia and Singapore.
How could I build this fast?
I’m not going to pretend this took months of stealth development. It didn’t. Kerja AI runs on the same foundation as Kerja Remote.- The same stack.

My bet with Kerja AI
AI hiring in Southeast Asia is going to look very different in 20027 onwards. The companies building AI teams here today are doing so quietly, and the talent seeking those roles is scattered across platforms that aren’t built for them.Someone was going to build the place where those sides meet. Niche down to what matters most. Not another Jobstreet or Monster.
